Writer Alex Sheldon is under immense pressure: he owes the Cuban mafia $100,000. To raise the money, he has to finish his novel within a month. However, Alex is suffering from a severe case of writer's block, which makes his situation seem like a futile endeavor. In desperation, he turns to stenographer Emma Dinsmore for help with his writing. But then Alex falls in love with Emma.
